During my first and most recent trip to Nice with my sister, I was impressed by the number of fantastic restaurants. Many of them had a buzzing dining al fresco in the Old Town under a canopy of terracotta facades with green shutters and iron-wrought balconies. The surrounding aesthetic added a glittering ambiance to the unique and flavorful dishes that danced between our cheeks. While I wish I had more time to try more restaurants, I’ve shared four restaurants in Nice that stood out to me during our stay, and I would recommend them to anyone planning a trip to this glimmering city on the French coast.
La Langouste
La Langouste is the only restaurant we ate at that wasn’t in Old Town, but it is worth the 15-minute walk from the center. This restaurant offers upscale dining of various seafood and beef with optional outdoor seating in a lush and secluded patio space. My sister had rich ruby-red seared tuna, and I had a melt-in-your-mouth lobster risotto with creamy whipped foam.

Olive & Artichaut
This little restaurant is easy to miss since it only has one small table outside, which my sister and I were lucky enough to snag on a whim. The menu here constantly rotates based on the season and has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. They offer an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert for a reasonable price. We especially loved the chicken served with caramelized onions seasoned with fennel and citrus, oyster mushrooms, and a sweet mustard sauce.

Comptoir du Marche
We came here because we saw a picture of a delicious steak in the reviews. However, we found that, like so many restaurants in Nice, this restaurant changes the menu every few weeks based on what is fresh and available. The interior gave off the ambiance of a cozy French home, and the smoked pork ribs and beef in bone marrow sauce were savory and filling.

Lu Fran Calin
On the last night of our trip, we dined outside at Lu Fran Calin, where we both ordered the Ravioli Niçoise, a traditional dish from Nice that consists of small, beef-filled ravioli served in a slow-cooked beef sauce. I thought the ravioli were delightful despite the sauce being a tad on the salty side, and the orange blossom-infused crème brulée was my favorite dessert of the trip.
