It was early morning when I stepped into the garden oasis of Faustino Gran. Staff in white linen shirts bustled around the patio, delivering glasses of bright orange juice, plates of eggs, and sugary pastries. In the canopy of the lush garden, birds chirped over the soft sound of clinking silverware and conversation. Even though I was exhausted from an early flight and felt out of place in my wrinkled pants and obnoxiously oversized Billabong t-shirt, a sense of tranquility washed over me as easily as a lapping wave. I knew that choosing to stay at Faustino Gran, one of the best luxury resorts in Menorca, was not a decision I would regret.

Menorca may be the sleepier, more rustic of the Balearic Islands when compared to its siblings, Ibiza and Mallorca, but Menorca certainly doesn’t lack world-class accommodation, fantastic dining experiences, and the picturesque beauty of pristine beaches and natural landscapes. Indulgent rejuvenation is the primary goal when planning a trip to Menorca, and Faustino Gran delivers that effortlessly by mixing the bohemian spirit of the island with modern luxury.
The hotel has three palaces located throughout the historic town of Ciutadella de Menorca, which include the rooms and amenities. A jungle pool set in an enclosed courtyard, a spa in a secret grotto, a restaurant hidden in an exotic garden, and botanical art inspired by Delphine Nény are just some of the touches that give the resort its aesthetic appeal.

My husband and I stayed at one of the hotel’s terrace suits in Cal Bisbe Palace, which includes an outdoor bathtub and views overlooking the city’s massive cathedral. Our room was spacious, clean, and minimal but well-designed. During our stay, we had daily breakfast and drinks at the hotel’s restaurant, indulged in an afternoon at the spa, lounged by the pool, and bathed on our terrace in the warmth of the sun and under the stars. Since we were staying at the hotel during my birthday, my husband arranged to have a bountiful bouquet with champagne and cake brought to the room. This extra gesture was such a fun surprise and spoke volumes to the staff’s willingness to accommodate and attention to detail.

Beyond the white-washed walls of the Faustino Gran, there are numerous restaurants and artesian shops to explore throughout Ciutadella de Menorca’s cobbled streets. Beyond the town, of course, are miles and miles of stunning beaches and coves where you can relax on the sand, swim in the waves, and create your adventure.
